Introduction to our team
At Sustainabean we choose our partners carefully, focusing on shared values rather than volume. We work directly with small farmers who prioritize quality, environmental protection, and fair working conditions. Transparency and long-term collaborations are at the heart of all partnerships we establish.
Farmers can apply to partner up with us, but we mainly approach farms and families ourselves. We visit each potential farm ourselves to ensure that all the conditions we expect from our partners are also fullfilled.
Located in the Peruvian highlands, the Rodriguez family has been farming coffee beans for generations. Their farm is truly a family business, with knowledge passed down from generation to generation. This connection from knowledge about their land and farming is reflected in the rich, balanced flavor of their coffee.
The Rodriguez family use natural composting methods, protect local biodiversity, and carefully manage water usage during farming. These practices not only protect the environment but also ensure healthier crops and better coffee year after year.

Sustainabean was founded in 2025 by Matthijs Kelder and Dylan Kollat with a shared belief that coffee should be and do good for the planet and the people who grow it. What began as a small idea of combining environmental responsibility and high—quality coffee into a brand that is committed to ethical sourcing, transparency, and long-term relationships with coffee farming communities.
